The climatology of the WFB is analyzed here based on airglow images obtained during 14 quiet days between 2001 and 2006 at the Brazilian station Sao Joao do Cariri (Geographic 7.45 degrees S, 36.5 degrees W, dip similar to 20 degrees S). The frequency of occurrence of the WTB maximizes in the descending phase of the solar cycle. The WTB velocities ranged between similar to 20 and 40 ms(-1). The frequency of occurrence had a peak value of only 3.65% at 2345 LT. The maximum occurrence of the WTB was in July-September. No WTB have been observed from November until April in all years 2001-2006. We show for the first time theoretically that the WTB dominant forcing mechanisms during geomagnetically quiet days are westward thermospheric winds. %8 Jul %N 11-12 %T Midnight reversal of ionospheric plasma bubble eastward velocity to westward velocity during geomagnetically quiettime: Climatology and its model validation %@electronicmailaddress jsobral@dae.inpe.br %@electronicmailaddress vivian@dae.inpe.br %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress denardin@dae.inpe.br %@secondarytype PRE PI %K Plasma Bubble, Equatorial Aeronomy, F Region. %@archivingpolicy denypublisher denyfinaldraft24 %@usergroup administrator %@usergroup lattes %@usergroup tereza@sid.inpe.br %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@e-mailaddress denardin@dae.inpe.br %3 Sobral-JASTP-v73-n11-12-p1520-28-science[1].pdf %@secondarymark B2_ASTRONOMIA_/_FÍSICA B1_CIÊNCIAS_BIOLÓGICAS_I B1_ECOLOGIA_E_MEIO_AMBIENTE B1_ENGENHARIAS_IV B1_GEOCIÊNCIAS A2_INTERDISCIPLINAR %F lattes: 8030262077949409 10 SobralCATPGAMZNKMB:2011:ClMoVa %U http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1364682610003639 %@issn 1364-6826 %2 dpi.inpe.br/plutao/2011/09.22.17.44.07 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Univ Fed Campina Grande UFCG, Dept Fis %@affiliation Univ Fed Campina Grande UFCG, Dept Fis %@project CNPq[301035/2009-1, 142006/2006-8, 305923/2008-0, 470553/2009-0]; FAPESP[06/0767-2] %B Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics %@versiontype publisher %P 1520-1528 %4 dpi.inpe.br/plutao/2011/09.22.17.44 %@documentstage not transferred %D 2011 %V 73 %@doi 10.1016/j.jastp.2010.11.031 %O Setores de Atividade: Pesquisa e desenvolvimento científico. %A Sobral, Jose Humberto Andrade, %A Castilho, Vívian Moreira, %A Abdu, Mangalathayil Ali, %A Takahashi, Hisao, %A Paulino, Igo, %A Gasparelo, Ulisses Antônio Côa, %A Arruda, Daniela C Santana, %A Mascarenhas, Matheus, %A Zamlutti, C.
