The STARS was conducted upon a MODIS dataset formed by 21 selected cloud free images (eight days composition) acquired from August 2003 to August 2004. The Multi-Coefficient Image (MCI) resulted from the STARS was used as input attributes for the three tested classifiers: Instance Based K-nearest neighbor (IBK), Decision Tree (DT) and Neural Network (NN). The IBK classifier presented the highest accuracy (K=0.93) in detecting deforestation also indicating the deforestation period (early or late in the year). The results showed that the STARS is promising to describe spectral change patterns over time, allowing detection of the deforestation process which occurs in the Brazilian Amazon. %T Spectral-Temporal Analysis by Response Surface applied to detect deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon %@isbn 978-1-4577-1202-9 %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress %@electronicmailaddress rafael.santos@lac.inpe.br %@tertiarytype Paper %@secondarytype PRE CI %K classification, MODIS, multispectral, multitemporal, remote sensing, STARS, Brazilian Amazon, Data sets, Deforestation patterns, K-nearest neighbors, MODIS, Multi-spectral, Multi-temporal, Response surface, Spectral change. %8 12-14 July %@usergroup administrator %@usergroup lattes %@usergroup secretaria.cpa@dir.inpe.br %@group DSR-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DSR-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DSR-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DSR-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DSR-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DSR-OBT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group LAC-CTE-INPE-MCT-BR %@e-mailaddress rafael.santos@lac.inpe.br %F lattes: 0096913881679975 7 MelloMaSaCaAGRUSa:2011:SpAnRe %2 dpi.inpe.br/plutao/2011/11.23.18.41.10 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@versiontype publisher %I IEEE %P 89-92 %4 dpi.inpe.br/plutao/2011/11.23.18.41 %@documentstage not transferred %D 2011 %V INSPEC Accession Number: 12217049 %@doi 10.1109/Multi-Temp.2011.6005055 %S Proceedings %A Mello, Marcio Pupin, %A Martins, Flora da Silva Ramos Vieira, %A Sato, L.
