Relations of these indices and the sea surface temperature (SST) variability in the eastern equatorial Pacific (Niño 3.4 index) and southwestern subtropical Atlantic (SSA index) are also investigated. Analyses are based on the Morlet wavelet transform. The interannual precipitation variability during the 19132006 period is mostly due to the high variances that occurred in specific sub-periods. The TMAX and TMIN indices also show significant interannual variability. The coherency and phase difference analyses of the precipitation index and the SST indices show higher coherency with the Niño 3.4 than with the SSA index. On the other hand, examining the coherencies and phase difference between the temperature indices and the SST indices, weaker coherencies with the Niño 3.4 index than with the SSA index are noted. These differences are discussed in the context of previous results. The new results here, with possible application for climate monitoring tasks, refer to the spectral differences between TMIN and TMAX. %8 Jun %N 1-2 %T Interannual to decadal variations of precipitation and daily maximum and minimum temperatures in southern Brazil %@electronicmailaddress mary.kayano@cptec.inpe.br %@electronicmailaddress clovis.sansigolo@cptec.inpe.br %@secondarytype PRE PI %K variabilidade decadal, Variabilidade Interanual. %@visibility shown %@group DMD-CPT-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DMD-CPT-INPE-MCT-BR %@e-mailaddress mary.kayano@cptec.inpe.br %@secondarykey INPE--PRE/ %@secondarymark A2_CIÊNCIAS_AGRÁRIAS A2_GEOCIÊNCIAS A2_GEOGRAFIA A2_INTERDISCIPLINAR %F lattes: 9331105406437396 1 KayanoSans:2009:InDeVa %@issn 0177-798X %2 dpi.inpe.br/plutao@80/2009/07.22.13.36.33 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %B Theoretical and Applied Climatology %P 81-90 %4 dpi.inpe.br/plutao@80/2009/07.22.13.36 %D 2009 %V 97 %@doi 10.1007/s00704-008-0050-4 %A Kayano, Mary Toshie, %A Sansígolo, Clovis Angeli, %@dissemination WEBSCI; PORTALCAPES; MGA. %@area MET
