Optical observations of the OI630 nm airglow made possible to carry out the present study based on the observed signatures on the OI630 nm airglow. From September 2000 to April 2007 at São João do Cariri (7.4ring operatorS; 36.5ring operatorW) 16 events were found to propagate westward presenting a defined seasonality, six of them occurring during JuneJulyAugust, seven of them during SeptemberOctoberNovember, the others three occurring during MarchAprilMay, and none during DecemberJanuaryFebruary. Ten observed cases occurred under quiet or weak magnetic periods showing that the intense magnetic activity is not the only cause of the westward direction propagation of the plasma bubbles. %8 Abr. %N 5-6 %T Optical observations of plasma bubble westward drifts over Brazilian tropical region %@electronicmailaddress igo@dae.inpe.br %@secondarytype PRE PI %K Airglow, Ionosphere, equatorial airglow depletions, f-region, magnetospheric disturbances, geomagnetic storm, electric-fields, spread-f, irregularities, climatology, ionosphere, velocities. %@usergroup administrator %@usergroup lattes %@usergroup marciana %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@e-mailaddress igo@dae.inpe.br %3 paulino.pdf %@secondarykey INPE--PRE/ %@secondarymark B2_ASTRONOMIA_/_FÍSICA B1_CIÊNCIAS_BIOLÓGICAS_I B1_ECOLOGIA_E_MEIO_AMBIENTE B1_ENGENHARIAS_IV B1_GEOCIÊNCIAS A2_INTERDISCIPLINAR %F lattes: 9211719990597519 1 PaulinoMeBuSoTaGo:2010:OpObPl %U http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jastp.2010.01.015 %@issn 1364-6826 %2 dpi.inpe.br/plutao@80/2010/06.25.17.16.19 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Univ Fed Campina Grande, Campina Grande, PB Braz %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %B Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics %P 521-527 %4 dpi.inpe.br/plutao@80/2010/06.25.17.16 %D 2010 %V 72 %@doi 10.1016/j.jastp.2010.01.015 %A Paulino, Igo, %A Medeiros, A.
