                         maior esta no estudo das ondas de Langmuir e whistlers devido

                         espaciais e a plasmas de laboratOrio. Os novos conceitos de 
                         acelera{\c{c}}ao de part{\'{\i}}culas utilizando ondas 
                         eletromagn{\'e}ticas, o surgimento das auroras nas regiOes 
                         polares e a precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o de part{\'{\i}}culas 
                         carregadas para atmosfera, atrav{\'e}s das anomalias do campo 
                         magn{\'e}tico terrestre s{\~a}o exemplos de fen{\~o}menos onde 
                         estas ondas desempenham um papel importante. Neste projeto 
                         pretendemos estudar a propaga{\c{c}}{\~a}o destas ondas em uma 
                         maquina de plasma quieseente, que produz plasma com 
                         caracter{\'{\i}}sticas muito semelhantes {\`a}s do plasma 
                         ionosf{\'e}rico, isto {\'e}, baixa densidade e temperatura. O 
                         projeto far{\~a} parte das atividades da {\'a}rea de 
                         f{\'{\i}}sica de plasma b{\'a}sica do LAP, contar{\'a} com a 
                         colabora{\c{c}}{\~a}o dos Departa mentos de Aeronomia e 
                         Geof{\'{\i}}sica Espacial do INPE e com o apoio do LaboratOricT) 
                         de Physique des Gaz et des Plasmas da Universit{\'e} de 
                         Paris-Sud, na Fran{\c{c}}a. ABSTRACT: The objective of this 
                         project is to perform experiments with wave phenomena on plasmas. 
                         Particular attention will be given to Langmuir and whistler waves 
                         due to its relations with severalphenomena occuring ou space and 
                         laboratory plasmas. The new conecpts of particle acceleration with 
                         eletromagnetic waves, the auroral phenomena ou the polar regions 
                         and the charged particle precipitation to the atmosphere through 
                         anomalies of the earth magnetic field are examples where these 
                         waves have an important role. In this project we intend to study 
                         the propagation of these waves in a quiessent plasma machine. This 
                         machine is able to produce a plasma with density and temperature 
                         with values similar to what is met in the ionospher. This project 
                         will be a part of the activities of the basic plasma group of the 
                         INPE's AssociatedPlasma Laboratory (LAP). It will have the 
                         collaboration of the departments of Aeronomy and Geophysics also 
                         from INPE, and the collaboration of the Plasma and Gas Physics 
                         Laboratory from University of Paris South, in France.",
